Our community is a highly connected network of academic, corporate, government and technical partners who contribute knowledge, funding, global and regional expertise, advice on project development and execution, and serve as trusted conveners and community advocates.

Founded in 2016 with the support of E&Y, Allianz, BASF and Volkswagen, the Digital Society Institute (DSI) has built a strong reputation for applied research at the intersection of technology, security, society and business. It has become a trusted source of expert advice on various aspects of digitalization, such as secure digital identities, cyber security, digital diplomacy, EU digital and technology policy and German IT security law.

In 2022, DSI expanded its scope by working towards becoming a leading knowledge hub on digital technology, regulation and cybersecurity issues, with a particular focus on European technology policy and regulation. Building on previous experience on digital research projects as well as on training courses for European digital and cyber policymakers, the DSI has consistently provided high-level policy support to the German and European cybersecurity policy communities.

By joining our DSI Knowledge Hub, you are becoming part of an interdisciplinary, multinational network of experts dealing with different aspects of digitalisation, ranging from secure digital identities, digital diplomacy, internet governance, and EU digital and tech policies to German IT law.
