  • Professor of Sustainable Business

    Professor of Sustainable Business

    ESMT Berlin invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of tenured Associate Professor or Full Professor in the area of sustainable business and transformation. Candidates from all disciplines of management and economics with strong focus on sustainability will be considered. Candidates with internationally recognized profiles and expertise in energy markets and transition, climate change and finance, and circular economy/business are particularly encouraged to apply. Requirements include outstanding research accomplishments, commitment to excellence in teaching in both degree programs and executive education, and interest in institution building.

    This position is connected with the academic leadership of ESMT’s Sustainable Business Transformation Initiative. This newly founded initiative aims to increase ESMT’s academic footprint in research and education on critical areas with impact for business and society and to provide innovative solutions to global environmental and social challenges.

    It encompasses the establishment of FUTURIST – Institute for Sustainable Transformation, a new institute in partnership with Werte-Stiftung, and with support from several private companies. The holder of this position is expected to take a leading role in the advancement of the institute and will not only conduct cutting-edge interdisciplinary scholarly research and engage in applied projects, but also contribute to outreach by strengthening ties with external research partners as well as stakeholders from the private and public sectors.

    Joachim Faber Chair in Business and Technology

    ESMT Berlin has an opening at the rank of tenured Associate Professor or Full Professor at the interface of business and technology. Ideally, candidates should have substantial expertise in deep technology development and innovation, with an application or commercialization of such technologies to solve challenges faced by business and society. Examples of deep tech fields of interest may include (but are not restricted to) artificial intelligence, blockchain, quantum computing, biotechnology, among others. Candidates with backgrounds in STEM-related fields combined with an established record of research in a business discipline are particularly encouraged to apply. Requirements include outstanding research accomplishments, commitment to excellence in teaching in both degree programs and executive education, and international experience

  • Faculty position in Operations

    Faculty position in Operations

    ESMT Berlin invites applications for a faculty position in Operations at the level of tenure-track Assistant Professor.  Junior candidates with a strong profile in operations management, with interface and applications in business analytics and artificial intelligence are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates from the areas of Operations Management, Management Science, Operations Research, Statistics, Quantitative Methods, and Data Science will be considered. 

    A doctoral degree in Operations Management, Operations Research, Statistics, Industrial Engineering or a related field is required prior to joining, but those with “all but dissertation” status will be considered at the application/interviewing stages. Candidates should demonstrate the potential for research excellence, including publications in top tier academic journals, as well as the potential for teaching excellence. The position offers teaching opportunities in Master’s in Management, MBA, PhD, and executive education programs.
